How do I help my child handle frustration?

Frustration is part of learning, not failure. When handled calmly, it becomes emotional strength training.

What to do, step by step:

  1. Name it.
“You’re frustrated because it’s not working yet.”
  2. Validate it.
“It’s okay to feel upset when things are hard.”
  3. Model calm problem-solving.
“Let’s take a breath, then try again together.”
  4. Praise perseverance.
“You didn’t give up—that’s how you get better.”
