How do I set boundaries without being mean?

Boundaries are kindness in structure form.

What to do, step by step:

  1. State limits clearly and calmly.
    “We don’t hit. I’ll help you stay safe.”
  2. Stay consistent.
    Same boundary, same tone each time.
  3. Explain why.
    “I want you safe and kind.”
  4. Offer a choice.
    “You can walk or I can carry you. You choose.”
