What if I lose my patience and yell?

It happens. Yelling doesn’t make you a bad parent—it’s a signal that you need co-regulation, too.

What to do, step by step:

  1. Pause and breathe.
    Step away if needed.
  2. Apologize sincerely.
    “I’m sorry I yelled. That wasn’t okay.”
  3. Model self-regulation.
“I was frustrated, so I took a breath.”
  4. Repair with connection.
Hug or do something small together.
  5. Plan your calm reset.
Build mini breaks into your day to prevent burnout.
