Why is my child angry all the time?

Anger is often a cover for fear, sadness, or feeling unseen. Children need help unpacking those deeper feelings safely.

What to do, step by step:

  1. Stay calm when they’re mad.
Your calm body teaches their brain how to settle.
  2. Label the emotion.
“You’re angry because that didn’t feel fair.”
  3. Invite expression, not suppression.
“You can tell me what’s wrong. I’ll listen.”
  4. Offer safe outlets.
Stomping feet, drawing, or running outside.
  5. Reflect later.
“Next time, let’s try words first instead of yelling.”
